Thriving at Work – New Report

On the 26th October 2017 a new report written by Mind’s Chief Executive, Paul Farmer and former HBOS Chair, Dennis Stevenson revealed what many of us have said for a long time; the UK is facing a much larger mental health challenge at work than initially thought.

It is clear that this is probably one of the most important reviews on mental health and wellbeing in the workplace that has been published for a while.  We have had report after report and now we need action and we are all ultimately responsible for taking that action.

As someone with mental and physical health challenges, I was particularly encouraged by the acknowledgement that ‘71% of long term mental health conditions are present alongside other long term health conditions, with as many as 4 or more including musculoskeletal conditions, heart problems and chest or breathing problems.

This report has a lot of detail, you can download it and read at your leisure here.  I have captured some key pieces of information that really brings home the importance of creating a mentally healthy and ‘thriving’ workforce.
